Hacker Pleads Guilty To The 2008 DDoS Attacks On The Scientology Websites!

Do you remember last year when the Church of Scientology's website was attacked? This cyber attack hit news headlines and was between the Church of Scientology and a specific group of young Internet individuals who went by the name of "Anonymous." At the time of the attack a part of the site went down for the day and was the cause of a mystery, for both Scientology members and Internet users worldwide.Scientology..jpg

The reason that the scientology.org website went down was due to the factor that the website was targeted by a couple of DDoS attacks. Apparently this particular attack was promoted by YouTube videos. It was claimed that the site was actually flooded with the amount of 220mbps of traffic, which was obviously very alarming at the time.

It is extremely alarming to know that the goal of a DDoS attack is to literally take over and flood the entire network as well as the resources of the server. The end result is that the users of a specific site or specific online service are denied access. DDoS attacks are very powerful and can cause a great deal of harm; this is of course all dependent on various factors such as the type of attack and how big the attack is. It can be said that DDoS attacks are actually easier to pull off than attempting to gain direct administrative access to a targeted system. Due to this particular reason, DDoS attacks are actually extremely common on the Internet today.Hacker.jpg

The latest news is that a nineteen year old boy recently pleaded guilty to these attacks. He is from New Jersey and his name is Dmitriy Guzner. It is a relief to know the truth behind these attacks, as they caused so many problems at the time and the truth was never discovered. It is wonderful to know that Dmitriy very recently, verbally pleaded guilty to these computer hacking charges.

The question that we may all be asking is what are the harsh ramifications going to be for this boy? Dmitriy Guzner at the age of nineteen is facing as it currently stands, a statutory maximum of ten years in jail. Scientology members will be patiently waiting for August as this is when Dmitriy Guzner's sentencing will take place. It will be fascinating to see the outcome of this situation.
